Indianapolis, IN- Summer Stock Stage will present Mary Poppins at Ayres Auditorium at Park Tudor School July 22-26. Wednesday preview and Thursday through Saturday evening performances are at 7:30 pm. Saturday and Sunday matinees are at 2:30 pm. More than 25 of the most talented students from central Indiana have been rehearsing with director Emily Ristine Holloway, music director Jeanne Bowling, and choreographer Cherri Jaffee, to mount this fully-staged and orchestrated production. These students, ages 13-19, come from public, private, and charter schools from throughout central Indiana. They will be joined by younger students from Summer Stock Stage Academy who will be featured in smaller roles. These are some of the best musical theater performers in the area. Many plan to continue their theater studies in college, while others have entirely different plans. All come together in a professional, collaborative environment to produce outstanding theater each summer.
Mary Poppins – Based on the classic Disney film, adventure abounds in the Banks household when a mysterious nanny magically appears. Mary Poppins whisks the Banks children into a world of dancing chimney sweeps, shopkeepers, and a variety of colorful characters. This irresistible story features stunning sets and costumes, incredible dance numbers and beloved songs like “A Spoonful of Sugar” and the biggest word you ever heard, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.” Summer Stock Stage will be one of the first community theatres in the area to perform this recent Broadway hit. Anything can happen in this family friendly musical which runs July 22-26. Wednesday preview performance is at 7:30 pm. Evening performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 pm and matinees are Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 pm.
Special Events – A Patron Reception at 6 pm will precede the Friday evening performance (July 24). Reception tickets are $25. FREE Meet and Greets with costumed characters from Mary Poppins will be Wednesday, July 22 and Thursday, July 23 from 6:15-7:00 pm in Foster Hall on Park Tudor campus. No tickets are required for Meet and Greets.
Tickets – All tickets are on sale NOW and can be purchased through www.summerstockstage.com or at the box office on the night of show. Preview performance tickets are $12. All other tickets are $17.
