Summer Stock Stage presents The King and I July 24-27

Indianapolis, IN- Summer Stock Stage will present The King and I at Ayres Auditorium at Park Tudor School July 24-27.  Thursday through Saturday performances are at 7:30 pm and Sunday performance is at 2:30 pm.  More than 40 of the most talented students from central Indiana have been rehearsing with director Emily Ristine Holloway, music director Jeanne Bowling, and choreographer, Cherri Jaffee, to mount this fully-staged and orchestrated production.   These students, ages 13-19, come from public, private, and charter schools, from urban Indianapolis, suburban Carmel and rural Thorntown.  Aaron Huey, a senior at Cardinal Ritter High School in Indianapolis plays the King and Elizabeth Hutson of Crawfordsville High School plays Anna.  In addition to the teenage performers, 24 elementary age students will portray the King’s many children.

The King and I–Rodgers and Hammerstein’s unique love story features one of the most glorious scores ever written.  Be whisked away to faraway lands in this charming story of a British governess who comes to the court of Siam to tutor the King’s many children.  Within the splendor of the Royal Palace, Anna and the King come to understand one another and learn about each other’s cultures.  This much-loved musical features some of theater’s loveliest and most well-known music including “Hello, Young Lovers,” “Getting To Know You,” and the unforgettable “Shall We Dance.” All tickets for this family-friendly classic are $17.

Patron Reception, Friday, July 25 at 6 pm – Prior to Friday’s performance, there will be a patron reception featuring the artistic staff and Thai food in Foster Hall at Park Tudor School.  All proceeds benefit program scholarships.  Tickets are $25.
