Indianapolis, IN (April 2, 2026) – Summer Stock Stage announced the cast today for the sweeping musical Ragtime, running June 24–28, 2026 at the Schrott Center for the Arts on the campus of Butler University.
With a book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty, and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, Ragtime is one of the most ambitious and powerful musicals in the American canon. Set at the dawn of the 20th century, the musical weaves together the stories of three distinct groups in pursuit of the American Dream, exploring themes of justice, identity, and social change through a richly layered and emotionally resonant score.
This production will feature one of the largest ensembles ever assembled at Summer Stock Stage, alongside a full 33-piece orchestra, bringing the epic scope and sweeping sound of Ragtime to life on a grand scale.
The cast of Ragtime will feature Michael Washington as Coalhouse Walker Jr., Cori Hughey as Sarah, Justus Palumbo as Father, Allie Niethammer as Mother, Luke Aguilar as Tateh, Colton Woods as Mother’s Younger Brother, Lilah Hern as Emma Goldman, Olivia Steele as Evelyn Nesbit, Gracie Reckamp as Little Girl, Graham Bodkin as J.P. Morgan, Max Frank as Harry Houdini, Sam Funk as Henry Ford, Asha Smitherman as Sarah’s Friend, Milo Ellis as Grandfather, Simon Allen as Willie Conklin / Harry Thaw and DeMarae Bradley as Booker T. Washington.

The creative team for Ragtime will be led by director Emily Ristine Holloway with musical director Teneh Karimu, choreographer Brandon Balentine, scenic designer David Orr, costume designer Caitlin Davey, lighting designer Kieran Shay, sound designer Zach Rosing, properties designer Rachelle Martin, and video designer Joey Mervis. Kevin Casey is the production stage manager.
