POCA (People of a Certain Age) Musical Theatre Program

At Summer Stock Stage, we believe that theater inspires and connects people of all ages. Research shows that singing, dancing, and learning new skills create fresh neural pathways, keeping minds sharp and spirits thriving. With POCA—People of a Certain Age—we celebrate that it’s never too late to learn, grow, and shine. This new initiative invites seniors and emerging older artists to step into the spotlight, build community, and experience the joy of live performance together.

This year, we are thrilled to announce that POCA will present Guys and Dolls Sr. with performances at Shelton Auditorium on February 27 & 28. This beloved classic brings big characters, timeless music, and plenty of heart—a perfect opportunity for participants to explore their creativity and share the stage with peers in a supportive, welcoming environment.

Rehearsals & Classes
Regular rehearsals will meet at the Phoenix Theatre Cultural Center on Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m., beginning September 10th. Our professional teaching artists will guide participants through character development, music, and movement, ensuring everyone feels confident and celebrated as part of the production.

POCA is more than a musical—it’s about connection, collaboration, and joy. Whether you’re a lifelong performer or brand new to the stage, this program offers a chance to learn, grow, and shine while making lasting friendships.

Join us this season for Guys and Dolls Sr. and help us prove that it’s never too late to chase the spotlight!
