INDIANAPOLIS – Summer Stock Stage and Eclipse, the emerging artists program of Summer Stock Stage (SSS), announce their 2022 season!
Summer Stock Stage presents The Addams Family, June 23-26 and Bring It On, July 28-31 in the Ayres Auditorium at Park Tudor School.
Eclipse presents Cabaret, June 2-12 and Fugitive Songs, August 3-7 in the Russell Theatre at Phoenix Theatre in downtown Indianapolis.
SSS, a premier educational theater group, provides students ages 13 to 19 with an extraordinary performing arts experience. In 2017, SSS introduced Eclipse, an offshoot for young professionals and college students. The performers, many of whom are SSS alumni, have the opportunity to showcase their talent in challenging musical theater productions.
Daring, provocative and exuberantly entertaining, Cabaret explores the dark and heady life of Bohemian Berlin as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Eclipse’s production features emerging artists from throughout the country along with local favorites Chuck Goad and Judy Fitzgerald.
A comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, The Addams Family features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents. SSS’s production will feature high school students from throughout central Indiana on the newly-renovated stage Park Tudor School.
Despite the challenges of fitting in at a new school, Campbell befriends some tough girls on the dance squad and helps them become a powerhouse competitor for the National Cheerleading Championships. Featuring a sassy script and fresh new songs from Tony Award winners Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, In the Heights) and Tom Kitt (Next to Normal), Bring It On is a fan favorite! Butler University Cheer and Mascot Coach Brenda Jamerson and Casey Jamerson, original Broadway cast member, are working with competitive cheerleaders from throughout the state on the cheer sequences, in this SSS production.
Fugitive Songs is a 19-song journey across America that spotlights people on the run, offering a new sound for a restless America. This folk-rock song cycle is poignant and particularly relevant in today’s world. Presented by Eclipse, SSS audiences will recognize many of the performers.
Tickets for the shows are $15-$35. Click here to purchase tickets or visit https://summerstockstage.com/
